Study days on travel health available for practice nurses

A series of interactive courses are being run in cities across England to provide practice nurses with information on vaccines and travel health

A series of half-day interactive courses on travel health is available throughout England for practice nurses of all levels.

Specialty vaccine company PaxVax is running an educational programme called Excellence in Travel Health in cities including Bristol, London and Manchester, which will involve specialist nurses in travel medicine and travel health acting as course leaders. The aim is to provide up-to-date information on vaccines that help protect against endemic diseases.

PaxVax UK country manager Graeme Whitehouse said: ‘Through our educational programme, we want to ensure healthcare professionals have the correct knowledge about vaccines and travel health.’

Independent immunisation and travel health specialist nurse Carolyn Driver said: 'There is a great need for training. Despite overseas travel increasing, travel health education gets very little attention from the NHS, so programmes like these are vital.’
