'So listen to us, hear us goddamn roar' - a poem by Molly Case

Molly Case was awarded widespread recognition after she performed her poem Nursing the Nation at RCN congress in Liverpool in 2013

Second-year nursing student Molly Case penned her poem Nursing the Nation after she and fellow students became demoralised by the barrage of media criticism about the profession.

Soon after she recited the poem at RCN congress in Liverpool in 2013, a YouTube film of her performance was viewed nearly 200,000 times.

Speaking at the time, Ms Case said: ‘I am overwhelmed. It is not a political poem, but a celebration of nursing that I wrote for people on my course. For this to have happened is amazing. Nursing is a noble profession and yet we are being told in the media that we are doing everything wrong when we are still learning the ropes.

‘All I have done is write a poem, so I am really pleased that it has resonated with people.’
