Multiple sclerosis specialist nurse scoops UK award

A multiple sclerosis (MS) specialist nurse has won a national award for being ‘at the heartbeat’ of a care service in Bradford.

Liz Watson (centre) was named multiple sclerosis specialist nurse of the year at the first ever MS awards.

Liz Watson was named MS specialist nurse of the year at the first ever Recognising Quality in the Delivery of Services (QuDoS) in MS awards.

Judges said Ms Watson was ‘at the heartbeat’ of the MS service at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where she runs regular specialist clinics.

She organised a clinic where MS patients can meet consultants and specialist nurses at the same time, and has played a leading role in a disease modifying treatment service including decision making, education and monitoring of patients.

The UK awards are supported by the MS Trust and a number of pharmaceutical companies.

Ms Watson said: ‘I am delighted to have received this award and immensely proud that the high quality service we have developed and deliver in Bradford has been recognised by the MS Trust and judging panel.’
