Excellence in Cancer Research category added to RCNi Nurse Awards

A late addition has been made to this year’s RCNi Nurse Awards 2016 – with only a short time available to submit nominations.

The Excellence in Cancer Research Award becomes the fourteenth category in the annual event, which recognises and rewards excellence in nursing.

While nominations for the other 13 have already closed, RCNi will be accepting entries for the new category until midnight on Sunday March 6.

The award, sponsored by Cancer Research UK, is seeking entries from nurses or research delivery teams who can demonstrate research undertaken that has led to new ways of preventing, diagnosing or treating cancer.

Nurses can nominate themselves or their team, or be nominated by a colleague.

The winner of the award will receive £500 in prize money.

Also, nominators have the chance to win a ticket to the ceremony, as well as overnight accommodation at a top London hotel.

Category finalists will celebrate their achievements on Friday May 6 at the inspirational awards ceremony, which will be attended by key figures in nursing.

A winner for each category will be announced on the night, and one of the category winners will be declared the RCN Nurse of the Year 2016.
