Do you know a nurse who deserves to be honoured by the Queen?

The Department of Health is calling for nominations for the Queen's Birthday Honours 2016

The Department of Health is seeking nominations for nurses and other healthcare workers deserving of OBEs, damehoods, knighthoods and similar honours for next year's Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Status and seniority are not important – what matters is that the person has had a positive impact on people’s health or care over a sustained period of time, the DH says.

Applications should include what makes the person special, what they have achieved, how they make a difference, how they overcome obstacles or go the extra mile, and how they could be described as a role model.

Teresa Chinn received an MBE for services to nursing for setting up the WeNurses website, which offers 'support and learning' for nurses. She said: ‘I never expected to be recognised in this way. My initial aim was to connect nurses through conversation and, in turn, improve the lives of the people we care for.’

The deadline for nominations is July 15.
