Bupa UK announces new grant-giving foundation

Private healthcare provider Bupa UK has launched a charitable foundation that will fund projects on areas including heart health, dementia and type 2 diabetes.

Trustees of the Bupa UK Foundation, which will award grants totalling up to £1 million this year, include former RCN president Andrea Spyropoulos.

The theme of the first round of funding will be announced next month, when applications will open.

Bupa UK medical director Paula Franklin said: 'The driving force of our new charitable foundation is to help millions of people live longer, healthier, happier lives. Our funding will be directed towards projects and initiatives that support this purpose.'
