1,200 signatures for nursing student’s ‘Save our NHS’ petition

University of Salford mental health nursing student Beth Byrom is campaigning against further cuts to NHS services

A nursing student has collected more than 1,200 names on a petition demanding that politicians protect the NHS from privatisation and do not make further cuts to services.

Beth Byrom, a mental health nursing student at the University of Salford, said she has seen the strains on the NHS during her placements.

She is running the petition for Bolton South East via the 38 Degrees campaign group, which has similar campaigns running for other UK regions. Thousands of people have signed ‘Save our NHS’ petitions in regions such as Bedford, Solihull and Cornwall.

Ms Byrom said: ‘The way I Iook at it, the NHS has always been there for me when I have needed it and so now it is my turn to try to protect it.’

The number of signatures she has received are those gathered on paper as well as online. If you wish to add your name to the online petition, click here.
