Off-duty nurse saves stabbing victim in street

Dramatic video footage shows unknown nurse performing CPR on critically wounded builder

Photographs and video of an off-duty nurse saving the life of a man who was stabbed and left for dead in a street have been published online by a national newspaper.

The unknown female nurse can be seen performing CPR in a crowded Bristol street on Monday, May 16. The video and photographs have been shared thousands of times online.

Witnesses told the Daily Mail that the 41-year-old victim had stopped breathing, but the nurse resuscitated him before paramedics arrived. He was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Driving past

A friend of the nurse was reported to have said: 'We were driving past at the time. My friend performed CPR. It must have been for about five minutes until the ambulance got there.

'No one wanted to help at all but she helped within seconds. He was passing away but she kept it up.’

Asking not to be named, he added: ‘He would have died if she wasn't there.’

Appeal to nurse

In a statement, Avon and Somerset police said: ‘A 32-year-old Bristol man is due to appear in court this morning (Wednesday) in connection with the stabbing incident on Monday night in Stapleton Road, Easton, Bristol.

‘Kozma Dhaskali of Stapleton Road, has been charged with attempted murder and will appear at Bristol Magistrates Court.’

The Daily Mail is appealing for the nurse to come forward.
