New nurses working in Starbucks: is this still a career for life?

Newly registered nurses unable to get jobs in the NHS are having to seek employment elsewhere to make ends meet, with some working as baristas, others in retail. This is despite the UK nurse shortage, with more than 30,000 vacancies in the NHS in England alone. Nursing was once considered a job for life, but these new graduates are unable to practise the skills they have worked hard to achieve.
