Learning disability nurses receive OBEs

Learning disability nurses have received OBEs in the Queen’s birthday honours list. 

Gwen Moulster, UK Learning Disability consultant nurse network co-chair, received her award for services to nursing and people with learning disabilities. 

Ruth Northway, University of South Wales professor of learning disability nursing, received an award for services to learning disability nursing; while Pauline Watts, Public Health England lead nurse in quality, mental health, learning disability and dementia, received her award for services to nursing and health visiting. 

Ms Moulster said: ‘You don’t expect this sort of thing to happen to an ordinary nurse – it’s lovely. This is for all learning disability nurses – it’s amazing we are on the list.’
