Sepsis recovery: how to support patients with post-sepsis syndrome
Sepsis survivors can struggle with multiple and prolonged physical issues including chronic fatigue, compromised kidney function, recurrent infections and joint pain. Sepsis can also leave people with depression, flashbacks and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While post-sepsis syndrome support services are patchy, nurses can give patients guidance on how to boost their chances of recovery.
