The diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy can be difficult in people with learning disabilities, and the best delivery of care depends on a treatment plan that is individualised to each person. The treatment plan will aim for significant reduction in the number of seizures, reduction in harmful seizures or improvement in alertness and mental ability. Learning disability nurses can do much to ensure that as many people with learning disabilities can experience the positive outcomes of effective control of their epilepsy.
