Sarah Earle and colleagues outline findings from a qualitative survey on the type of contraceptives used by women with learning disabilities
This article describes the findings of an online survey exploring contraception for people with learning disabilities. The survey reveals that this is a complex subject but that in two thirds of cases the Mental Capacity Act 2005 was not being implemented. The subject is of particular relevance to women with learning disabilities, few of whom are involved in decision making and many of whom use contraceptives even if they are not sexually active.
