The NHS pay deal trumpeted as being the ‘biggest pay rise in a decade’ has come into effect.

However, within days of nurses in England receiving their first pay increase, RCN general secretary Janet Davies issued an apology after it emerged some staff had got less than they thought they would.

The college has now launched an independent review into the situation.
