RCN nurse of the year Amanda Burston will have her work supporting victims of domestic abuse recognised at an event celebrating the achievements of women.

Ms Burston, who won the overall award at the Nursing Standard Nurse Awards 2015, will be one of 400 guests at the Women of the Year lunch in London in October.

She launched the Safer Steps service in the Royal Stoke University Hospital A&E department which has helped 400 victims of abuse since it started three years ago.

It allows people to report abuse and seek help, and includes extensive training for all staff at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Ms Burston said: ‘I am delighted to be invited along to this inspiring event on behalf of every victim of abuse. I accept every opportunity to keep this vital conversation going.’
