Nominations are open for nurses interested in becoming the next chair of the board of trustees at the Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS).

The charity is seeking an individual with a record of achievement in nursing, health or social care or in business to lead its board. The four-year tenure requires commitment to 15 days’ work per year and is unpaid but reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.

The successful applicant will replace Charles Butterworth, who is a former chair of the Council of Deans of Health.

Nurse innovations

The FoNS runs practice development programmes to support UK nurses in leading workplace innovation. It has a membership of around 6,000 nurses and other health and social care professionals.

Its three main aims are to:

  • Give nurses and other healthcare practitioners, easy access to information, resources and networks through its virtual Centre for Nursing Innovation
  • Work with nurses in practice, helping them to focus on patients, their needs and their care
  • Seek less well-known sources of funding to help nurses apply theory and research projects in practice

To apply, candidates should submit their CV and a statement outlining their suitability for the role and reasons for applying, along with the contact details of two referees.

Applications should be submitted to Debbie Warren, communication and administration office, FoNS, 11-13 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0AN, or by email to debbie.warren@fons.org

The closing date for applications is 4 June and interviews will be held in July.
