Aims and intended learning outcomes

The aim of this article is to increases nurses’ awareness of issues and methods involved in quality improvement in a healthcare setting. After reading this article you should be able to:

Describe the quality framework currently being put in place throughout the NHS.

Identify five approaches to quality improvement in health care.

Undertake a critical incident analysis of some aspect of your nursing practice.

Contribute effectively to the development of clinical governance through clinical supervision in your organisation.
