Nurses feel that those who work in A&E are at a higher risk of violence than colleagues in other Clinical areas. But this is a false perception, says HANNAH LANDY

Researchers recognise that healthcare workers, particularly nurses, are at risk of violence at work (Carter 2000, Clement 1992, Schnieden and Marren-Bell 1995).
