RCN wins competition to host contemporary art installation

Work by British artist Peter Liversidge will be shown at RCN library

The RCN’s library and heritage centre in London has won a public vote to host an exhibition by British artist Peter Liversidge.

Known for designing sets for musicians as well as exhibitions, Mr Liversidge has worked with Tate Liverpool and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art as well as galleries worldwide.

The RCN won the chance to host his work as part of a venture called Connect!, which links cultural venues with leading artists. The results of a public vote were revealed today and the RCN will also receive £3,000 towards staging the show.

RCN audience and engagement manager Sarah Chaney, said: ‘Nursing and the arts often come together in unforeseen ways and it’s wonderful to have this opportunity as we celebrate 100 years of nursing.’

The library and heritage centre is home to Europe’s largest collection of nursing materials, as well as the college’s centenary exhibition The Voice of Nursing: Celebrating 100 years of the RCN.

The Liversidge exhibition will take place during Museums at Night, an annual festival of after-hours arts, culture and heritage in October.
