Ms Bosanquet, Public Health Education (PHE) deputy chief nurse, was presented with her award by the University of Greenwich in London during a ceremony on 24 October.

The university said the award was in recognition of her distinction in the field of nursing and public health, and the inspiration she has been to students.

Ms Bosanquet, who is no stranger to success having also been made a fellow of the Queen's Nursing Institute this week (Community nursing leaders recognised at QNI awards), said she felt particularly honoured to be recognised by a university she believes is ‘forward thinking’ and serious about promoting public health.

PHE has worked with the University of Greenwich on the All Our Health campaign, aimed at embedding health and well-being promotion in everyday practice and encouraging health professionals to signpost local public health projects.

‘I am extremely honoured,' Ms Bosanquet told Nursing Standard.

'The University of Greenwich is very important for nursing and nurse leadership.’

'Music to my ears'

She added: ‘There aren’t that many us [nurses] at this level, and undergraduates and postgraduates are looking for direction and inspiration. It is my job to be out there, leading and inspiring innovative ideas for the future.’

Ms Bosanquet said of the ceremony ‘I spoke to a few graduates and told them how proud of them I am.

‘All of the ones I spoke to were going straight into primary care or community nursing – and that was music to my ears.’
