A hospice has joined a Cavell Nurses’ Trust employers’ scheme that helps support nurses through personal or financial hardship.

The Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge has become the first in its sector to join the ‘Working with’ scheme.

The programme has already been adopted by nine NHS trusts, six nursing recruitment agencies, one care home provider and a GP surgery.

Supporting nurses who face hardship, wherever they work

On average, 63 nursing staffing every week seek help from Cavell Nurses’ Trust, with a total of 3,300 approaching the charity in 2018.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust chief executive John Orchard said: ‘The nursing profession has a huge diversity of roles and employers, so bringing hospices and other specialised nurse employers on board is hugely important. We want to ensure our support for nurses facing hardship is as far reaching as possible.’

Arthur Rank Hospice human resources director Gemma Manning said: ‘Our nursing colleagues provide outstanding care to our patients on a daily basis, but we are aware that there are times when they may also need support and guidance on a range of personal issues, from ill health to financial concerns.’

Fundraising trek for Cavell Nurses’ Trust

Nurses are being asked to take part in the #10kForNurses challenge throughout October to raise money for the Cavell Nurses’ Trust. The challenge includes a trek up Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.
