All fields and settings

The survey, which is open until 9am on 5 February, aims to find out the experiences of nurses and healthcare assistants (HCA) in caring for people in their final weeks and days of life.

This is the second year Nursing Standard and the charity have joined forces for the survey. Nurses and HCAs in all fields and settings, not just those working in planned end of life care, are invited to take part.

Marie Curie director of nursing Dee Sissons said: ‘Last year’s survey provided us with crucial insights into the experiences of nurses who shoulder the huge responsibility of caring for people who are in the final weeks and days of their lives.

‘Sadly, we found that many felt frustrated by a lack of time and resources, and other barriers, which prevented them from providing patients and their families with the best possible care.

Better or worse

‘We now want to know whether the situation has changed, for better or worse, and to identify the key issues facing nurses today.

‘Practically every nurse will care for someone who is dying at some point in their career. Whether it’s something they do every day or have only experienced once or twice, it’s important that we hear their opinions.’

Everyone who completes the survey can enter a prize draw to win one of ten £50 M&S vouchers.
