Adolescent patients who recover from treatment for brain tumours can be left with both physical and psychosocial problems (Mostow et al 1991, Plowman 1992). The neuro-oncology rehabilitation team based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital has formulated a project that seeks to address these issues within a structured process combining an arts exercise programme. A review of the literature revealed that the use such a programme in the rehabilitation of adolescent survivors of brain tumours had previously not been explored. This article reports on the results of the initial pilot project for this programme.
