There has been increased pressure on chemotherapy day units in recent years due to a rise in the number of patients receiving treatment, longer survival rates and more chemotherapy regimens being delivered in the outpatient setting. This article discusses the design, implementation and evaluation of a clinical audit carried out to assess how effective a two-stop system was in reducing waiting times and increasing patient satisfaction. It highlights the need to improve services while still maintaining patient safety and quality of care. The benefits of a change in working practice have been identified and improvements required have been acknowledged.
