Melissa Warren and Diane Mackie look at the role of the clinical nurse specialist in relation to patients with advanced disease
Clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) play an important part in the delivery of care to patients with metastatic breast cancer in hospital and in the community; a component of which is co-ordinating supportive care needs. This article reviews the literature on the supportive care needs of patients with metastatic breast cancer drawing on the standards of care developed by UK charity Breast Cancer Care and the role and efficacy of CNSs.
