Redeployment in nursing: can it help my career development?

In healthcare settings, redeployment is common practice and involves temporarily or permanently moving nursing and other staff to different areas to meet patient or staffing need, or service demand, as highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. While it can cause anxiety for nursing staff, redeployment offers opportunities for career growth and development, allowing nurses to expand their skills, build their confidence and work in different teams, specialties or settings. We look at how to ensure redeployment is fair and how to support colleagues who are redeployed.
