Abstract

Volunteering to share professional skills with overseas healthcare workers can help nurses develop personally and professionally. The Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) facilitates this exchange by building partnerships between healthcare organisations in the UK and various countries overseas.

Senior nurse Colleen Lloyd works in the community stroke rehabilitation team at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, part of the THET-funded Ghana-Wessex Stroke Partnership. She has visited Ghana twice and is preparing to return soon.
